Two recent New Hampshire surveys have Sanders in the lead, and the latest NBC poll in Iowa has Sanders just three points behind Clinton.
A new poll conducted by USA TODAY/Rock the Vote finds that most potential voters under the age of 35 strongly favour Bernie Sanders over Ms Clinton.
Clinton recalled the horrors victims faced in some high-profile mass shootings and aired frustrations against gun manufacturers and the National Rifle Association.
The Clinton campaign sent an email to supporters in New Hampshire appealing for donations, ABC News reported.
When young Democrats were asked, they favored the Vermont senator 46 percent to 35 percent over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll released Monday by youth voting advocacy group Rock the Vote. That’s a smaller lead than other polls have shown for months in the Hawkeye state. In Iowa and New Hampshire, however, Sanders has done better than nationally. Clinton, who voted against the 2005 legislation while a senator from NY, told host Chris Matthews that Sanders should “stand up and say I got this one wrong”. On the Republican side in New Hampshire the race is not as close, with Trump leading the pack by 16 percent, with his closest competition in the state, Marco Rubio, holding only 14 percent support.
The former president is also doing a swing through Iowa at the end of the week, before Hillary Clinton heads to SC to take on Sanders and O’Malley in a Democratic debate scheduled for Sunday night.
Bernie Sanders has closed the gap in Iowa, putting him neck-and-neck with Hillary Clinton in the early states. Sanders campaign has been touting the candidates support of Obamas action this week, saying there is zero daylight between Sanders and the president on guns. Sanders said he doesn’t see that happening.
University of Northern Iowa student Adam Salutric also said he appreciated Clinton’s depth of answers on the issues. Through much of December she had been punching past Sanders, targeting Donald Trump, but she has been forced to reengage with Sanders.
