April 27 11:29 2018

Josh Allen’s road to the NFL Draft was never smooth.

Buffalo swapped first-round picks with Tampa Bay and gave up two additional second-round picks.

Allen didn’t exactly dominate his collegiate competition, with just over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.

The 21-year-old, born in Firebaugh, California, signed with Reedley Community College in California for the 2014 season, throwing for 26 touchdowns and 285 yards a game (with 66 rushing yards per contest) in his lone season there.

Nothing in his National Football League career has been smooth sailing for A.J. McCarron, and the National Football League draft on Thursday has only added to that frustration.

Despite the expectations of many analysts, the biggest rumor floating around Dallas is that the Browns will take Oklahoma quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy victor Baker Mayfield number one overall.

On a day that was supposed to be the exciting, hopeful start of something new, Allen and his team were left playing damage control for almost 24 hours.

Allen is the first quarterback the bills have ever selected in the top ten of the draft. From the Buccaneers, the Bills got the 7th overall pick and also got the Bucs 255th overall pick (7th round). – Fifth-year UW coach Craig Bohl about an hour before the draft.

Tampa Bay used the 12th pick to take defensive tackle Vita Vea from Washington.
