Even if you’ve only been paying intermittent attention to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens box office performance, you know the movie has been doing some insane businesses, breaking records all over and crossing milestones faster than any film before it. And as of the end of New Year’s Day, the film had just taken down two more of the all time highest domestic grossing titles.

George Lucas apologized Thursday for comparing Disney to “white slavers” during an interview in which he criticized the latest incarnation of “Star Wars”, the movie franchise he created.

What that means is Star Wars is now fair game – much like the Marvel movies – to be tackled by any and all filmmakers.
It remains to be seen, though, what George Lucas is planning for the future moving forward, in spite of Disney not caring about the original owner’s plans for his sold property. “Do that.’ And be there to help guide it”.
“I have been working with Disney for 40 years and chose them as the custodians of Star Wars because of my great respect for the company and Bob Iger’s leadership”, Lucas said. The director said he tried to realize that it was healthier for him to move on with his life and not look back.
“I thought that the best utility for the character would be to sacrifice himself to a high ideal”, Ford says.
