BJP did nothing for the people of UP: Akhilesh Yadav

Keeping the political pot of Kairana boiling, Union minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development Venkiah Naidu held the UP government responsible for the exodus of people from Kairana. BJP MP Sangeet Som on Friday gave a 15-day ultimatum to the Uttar Pradesh government to bring back those who have allegedly left Kairana.

“Because of this, the population of Hindus which was once 68 per cent has come down to 8 per cent (in Kairana)”, he alleged while addressing a Ram Katha programme in Basti. Secondly, you all must have seen that there is law order issue in the state. It is better to look at it from that angle.

“Muslim families have also fled from Kairana, it is not only Hindus”, he said when asked to comment on the Kairana migrations.

Balyan, BJP’s Lok Sabha MP from Muzaffarnagar, claimed that the “migration problem” was not only restricted to Kairana area in the state, adding that it was wrong to paint the whole issue with a “communal” brush.

“In our 2012 election manifesto, we had promised to connect all districts with four-lane roads and we have fulfilled our promise by connecting 40 districts so far with such roads while the work is on in other districts”, he said. On Monday morning the team arrived at the guest house of Thanabhavan Sugar Mills where they met district magistrate Sujit Kumar and superintendent of police (SP) Vijay Bhushan, to gather information on Kairana’s situation. “I was ashamed…if they had to do such things then at least they should not have worn this sacred color (saffron)”, said Mr Singh, alleging that some of the seers had criminal cases against them.
