Bonnies Beat UCLA 65-58

March 16 16:40 2018

St. Bonaventure will try to win two games in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1970, when it beat Davidson, N.C. State and Villanova before losing to Jacksonville. They were sixth in the conference in rebounding margin despite averaging the most rebounds in the conference at 38.9 per game. Courtney Stockard hit a number of huge shots for the team from Olean, New York, leading the way with 26 points in the 65-58 win. The Bonnies are 26-7 coming into the game against the 20-12 Florida Gators and they’re riding high on one of the biggest wins in program history.

The Bonnies have an awesome senior backcourt duo of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley.

The 6-foot-2 Adams averages 19.4 points and 5.4 assists per game, while shooting 44.4 percent from 3-point range. Wojnarowski and his wife, Amy, a fellow St. Bonaventure alumnus, donated $10,000 to fund student travel and ticket costs for the school’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2012.

Adams struggled throughout the game, and he made just two of his 16 shots in the game, but he was able to connect when his teammates needed him the most.

Given how Florida (20-12) performed defensively against the Razorbacks, maybe the biggest surprise is that White didn’t find a way to get his team to a gym for extra work. They had trouble making shots against the Bonnies’ zone defense and matched their season high with 20 turnovers, a disappointing ending to a season that started withan worldwide incident. “We have a lot of confidence on our home floor and we want to make this place a feared place to play, but we also want to grow the game for our city”.

Here’s a closer look at St. Bonaventure.

Despite, the short turnaround, the Gators feel they have a good sense of what to expect from St. Bonaventure, which has won 14 of its last 15 games while setting a program record with its 26 wins this season. Idris Taggee pushed St. Bonaventure ahead by five points, hitting a jump shot from the elbow in the first possession of the first half.

The Bonnies won’t get many breaks from Holiday, if any at all. The Bonnies rank 33rd nationally in 3P FG% defense, the 12th best mark in the NCAA Tournament field.

The UCLA Bruins failed to advance into the Pac-12 final as they lost to Arizona, 78-67, in OT.

Radford gets first NCAA tourney win • Carlik Jones scored 12 points to go with career highs in rebounds (11) and assists (seven) as Radford beat LIU Brooklyn 71-61 to gain its first NCAA Tournament victory.

Likewise, St. Bonaventure needs to be aware of Keith Stone, the Florida interior presence with a proven knack for stepping out beyond the arc.

Holiday vs. Adams is going to be worth the price of admission alone, and whoever wins that one is going to cause some problems for Florida. Two of the Bruins top three scorers were taken in the NBA Draft – Lonzo Ball and T.J. Leaf – while the third, Bryce Alford, graduated. Offensively, Florida has been led by Jalen Hudson (15.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.0 apg), Egor Koulechov (13.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.3 apg), KeVaughn Allen (11.3 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.0 spg), and Chris Chiozza (11.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.8 spg).
