Broncos D dominates Panthers in 24-10 Super Bowl win

A lack of help from teammates or the inability to thrive against stellar defenses from teams such as New England and Seattle left Manning with just one Super Bowl title in his first 13 playoff trips.

Panthers’ coach Ron Rivera said Newton played “pretty well” but pointed to the turnovers as the most significant factor in the loss.

“It feels great”, said Miller, who had six tackles, 2 1/1 sacks, 2 hurries, the 2 forced fumbles and a pass defensed. “We came together as a whole”.

In the midst of the confetti shower and hugs and cheers, the lingering question was quarterback Peyton Manning’s possible retirement. “I think Peyton’s done in Denver”.

‘Like I said, Tony Dungy who I spoke with – I communicated with him last last when he got in the Hall of Fame and that was very special – I talked to him last week and he called me and said: “I need to talk to you”, and said that he got some good advice from Dick Vermeil and I think maybe Bill Cowher as well about not making an emotional decision one way or the other. “It’s certainly been an emotional week for everybody”. “I got a couple priorities first”.

“I remember the Ravens, I remember the Bucs”, Talib said, listing the greatest defenses of all time. “I’m going to drink a lot of beer tonight, I promise you that”.

If it indeed was Manning’s finale, he goes out a champion, just as Jerome Bettis, Michael Strahan, Ray Lewis and Peyton’s boss, John Elway, all did before him.

After that, it was the turn of the highest scoring offense (averaging just over 31 points per game) in the regular season and their conductor Cam Newton to test out the Broncos defensive unit.

As if it had been specially ordered by the National Football League just for the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary, Mother Nature delivered flawless party weather with blue skies and unseasonably warm temperatures hovering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 Celsius). However, the young Panthers wilted in the spotlight against a ferocious Broncos defence.

Norwood set a Super Bowl record with a 61-yard punt return during the first half.

Newton, as he does every game, began by saying a prayer then blowing a kiss to his mom, but it was the only thing that was routine as he was kept under constant pressure.

Miller ripped up Cam Newton’s storybook ending to a remarkable season by twice forcing Newton to fumble the ball, both of which led to touchdowns.

Newton was never able to get the Panthers offence into any sort of rhythm.

Carolina’s potent offense that led the league with 500 points was held to its fewest points of the year, and Denver set an ignominious mark with 194 yards gained, the fewest for a Super Bowl victor. The 39-year-old quarterback’s spiral wobbled several yards behind his receiver, where it was intercepted by Carolina’s Kony Ealy.

But Miller would end any hope of a Carolina comeback when he knocked the ball out of Newton’s hand on the Panthers four-yard line where the Denver offence took over, C.J. Anderson powering his way over from the two for 24-10 lead.

Cam Newton's golden cleats also showed off a number of statistics such as his total yardage for the season completion rate and first downs
