Broncos have fallen to seventh in AFC playoff race

Special teams produced all of the punctuation marks for both team’s drives in overtime. The Broncos’ Von Miller and Chiefs’ Justin Houston had a sack-off, with three each.

After the Broncos lost to the Colts in the 2014 playoffs, Elway was miffed that the team did not go out kicking and screaming.

Finding a capable quarterback may be the toughest job for an National Football League franchise.

Then it gets worse.

It turned out that Hill was just beginning. 86 yards and a touchdown, capped off by a high-five before reaching the goal line.

It’ll be a test to see how the Broncos respond to being the hunters instead of the hunted, as they have for the better part of the past decade.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Bennie Fowler (16) runs back a touchdown catch as Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Phillip Gaines (23) defends during the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in Denver.

The Broncos and Chiefs traded field goals in overtime, setting up the final unintentional-trick-shot kick by Santos.

The second half mercifully rolled around and Siemian began to show his stuff in what may go down as the best game of his young career to this point. That game went into overtime and was decided by a Kansas City Chiefs field goal with five seconds left in the game.

So, sure. Why not the Chiefs?

Norwood recovered his first muff in the first half but it set up Kansas City’s safety.

Cincinnati got a safety on the final play when Baltimore punter Sam Koch ran out of the end zone while his blockers intentionally held Cincinnati rushers. Indeed, Siemian is only a rookie, but he is not making many rookie mistakes. Running back Spencer Ware rushed for 64 yards on 17 carries, and tight end Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 101 yards. Second-year lineman Ty Sambrailo started at right tackle for the Broncos, as Kubiak indicated he might following Donald Stephenson’s rough outing against the Saints. He’s been our leader all the way through, so it’s just a matter of stepping up in this game here. He has two years left on his contract and is scheduled to earn a $2 million roster bonus in 2017.

Three minutes for the Chiefs. A game can end on an offensive penalty.

Hill is the first player to score those three ways in a game since Gale Sayers of the Chicago Bears did so against the Minnesota Vikings in 1965. Their next two are against the Jaguars and Titans, and they’ll be in Kansas City for a Week 12 rematch against the Chiefs.

The last fifteen minutes of this game were hard to stomach. Punt the ball and the Broncos would have had – again according to my own logic – 10 percent chance to win (must give some odds for a turnover), 70 percent chance for a tie and 20 percent chance the Chiefs would have drove against the Broncos’ soft coverage into field goal range.

Another answer by the Chiefs. But Stoyanovich nailed the 54-yarder with less than a yard above the crossbar.

The defense that carried them to a Super Bowl win, that had locked down one opponent after another in close-and-late situations, finally buckled and broke in the final moments of regulation. But Kubiak essentially sealed his team’s fate.

“I kicked the ground and with that distance you can’t kick the ground”.

11 yards to Hill. The Chiefs countered with their own field goal from Santos. The Broncos lose, 30-27. If the ball comes to me, I’m going to make the plays.

His teammates believe there is much more to come.
