“There is no place for such language in the BJP”.
In a swift action following outrage over Dayashankar Singh’s controversial remarks, the BJP had on Wednesday expelled him.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday expressed “personal regret” in Parliament over Singh’s remark.
“It is highly condemnable that a political leader uses such words against a prominent woman leader”. “I am personally hurt that a BJP party person used such derogatory words against Mayawati”.
Mayawati had yesterday said that the country will not forgive the BJP for the abusive language that its UP leader used against her.
“The man did not speak against me”.
“People from the weaker sections of society, cutting across party lines, respect me a lot; they treat me as a goddess. and if you say bad things about their goddess, they will feel bad and are bound to protest”, Mayawati said.
State BSP president Raj Achal Rajbhar said Singh’s statement had revealed the “anti-Dalit mentality” of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The case was registered at the Hazratganj police station by Mewa Lal Gautam who said the now-sacked BJP state Vice-President’s statement had violated the honour of a Dalit woman and tried to foment trouble and tension between two communities. But look at a leader like Mayawati who sells a ticket for Rs 1 crore, then after some time if another is willing to pay Rs 2 crore, she will give the ticket to him. That the core of the BJP is essentially coloured by an upper caste, male and anti-Dalit mindset.
“In the name of cow protection, the Muslims have been attacked”.
“On my birthday, I have told my supporters not to give me any expensive gifts like gold and jewellery but make economic contributions to the party”, she said.
Singh too expressed “regret” for his remark against Mayawati and her followers, and said he was “ready” to go to jail “if Mayawati wants so”. “What we really need is fast track courts with a sitting High Court judge”, Mayawai said in the Rajya Sabha during a discussion on the sensitive issue of recent atrocities against Dalits in Gujarat’s Una town. This was strongly refuted by the Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Mayawati asked them to take him out of the party and take necessary and serious action against him.
