Following New England’s first loss of the 2016 season – a thorough 16-0 beating at the hands of the visiting Buffalo Bills – Belichick had little to say about anything, particularly Garoppolo.
“We’ve just got to keep digging”.
It’s never happened since he’s been coaching New England and the last time it happened to any New England boss was 23 years ago.
Ryan won’t get a ring around a finger for his win over New England – and he knows that – but he certainly had the postgame look of a heavyweight boxer, championship belt around his waist, flexing for the cameras.
Bills coach Rex Ryan couldn’t resist taking a verbal shot at the Patriots. “Been close about six times”.
It’s no secret that Tyrod Taylor’s performance the first two weeks of the season were not up to his or anyone’s standards on Buffalo’s offensive staff.
Q: Did you know yesterday he wasn’t going to play?
However, Ryan said after the game that he was given inside information in advance.
The two teams will meet again later in the month of October on Oct. 30 when the Patriots head to Buffalo for a rematch when they will presumably have their quarterback reinserted into the starting lineup. He wins pretty much a lot against safeties and linebackers and the matchups that we had today with him on the field – we liked those going into the game.
LeSean McCoy had 108 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown. Dan Carpenter kicked three field goals for the Bills. “We needed a win and that was a must-win situation”.
“Just didn’t play well”, Brissett said.
Asked if he felt ready to make the same throws he made before the injury, he was noncommittal.
BB: Yeah, we just didn’t have a very good day today. “Hats off to them”. “We tried to quiet down the noise early and we were able to get a good drive going first and get a score”. A last minute decision saw Brissett getting the start for the Patriots, something the Bills seemed to be quite fond of. The Bills stayed salty throughout the game, especially the defense.
This was a great win for the Bills, but let’s face it, New England was without a huge piece to their team in Tom Brady. However, they actually did their job after halftime, holding Buffalo to just three second-half points.
RAMS 17, CARDINALS 13: Tavon Austin returned a punt 47 yards to set up Case Keenum’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Brian Quick with 2:41 to play, and the Rams improved to 3-1 for the first time in a decade with a victory over the Cardinals (1-3).
This was a beatdown by Buffalo, aided by New England’s self-inflicted wounds. I think October 30 and upstate NY might be different story but for now Rex gets the last laugh. “He’s our leader”, Amendola added.
SLOW GOING: The Patriots’ offense was anemic in the opening quarter, failing to get a first down while managing 20 total yards.
– Martellus Bennett gets a gold star. Taylor, finishing the game with a passer rating of 94.6 looked notably more comfortable today spreading out the ball to all of his options connecting with eight different receivers. Defensively for the Bills the play of Zach Brown stood out as he accounted for 18 tackles and a sack in the victory.
