Bulls coach: Isaiah Thomas ‘impossible to guard’ cuz he travels

Game 5 between the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics will be on Wednesday in Boston.

The victory now brings the Celtics one game away from tying up the series and moving on beyond the first round. Chicago never managed to get within five points from that moment on. After the injury, the Chicago Bulls first tried Jerian Grant as a replacement, then Michael Carter-Williams, but didn’t find anything they liked until dusting off Isaiah Canaan in Game 4.

They found another gear in Chicago.

Thomas scored 33 points Sunday and helped Boston post a 104-95 triumph over the Bulls in Game 4.

The Celtics trailed 65-63 with 4:35 to play in the third quarter after leading by as much as 20 points in the first half. “Obviously with [Rajon] Rondo going down [with a fractured right thumb], the ball’s going to be a lot more in my hands”. But when you’re allowed to discontinue your dribble on every possession, he is impossible to guard. He’s just a hard guy to guard. For that, he credited his teammates and coaches for putting him in position to succeed.

“To me personally, it was everything”, Jae Crowder said. “They’ve been supportive. The whole world has, really, so I can’t say enough about that”.

The Celtics went on a 12-0 run in the next three minutes and finished the third quarter leading 79-70. In Game 6 on Sunday afternoon, Ottawa ultimately found the back of net first with a power-play goal by Clarke MacArthur.

Smart feigned throwing the ball at Butler. “Especially someone who wants to win as bad as he does, that studies the game and wants to do well by everybody like he does”.
