Cam Newton: ‘I’m an African American QB that scares people’

“Man I’m proud. He made a lot of people proud, he deserves it. In the Super Bowl you’ll see him have so much fun”, said Caylin.

Malzahn helped develop Newton into a Heisman Trophy victor and the first overall pick of the 2011 draft when he served as Auburn’s offensive coordinator under Gene Chizik.

Newton, a leading league MVP candidate putting up record-breaking numbers, said he learned a long time ago that he can’t please everyone. “But people are going to judge and have their own opinion on certain things that I don’t have control over nor does anybody else”. In two playoff games, Newton has thrown for 496 yards, ran for 50 yards, and scored five touchdowns.

Which explains why they so enjoyed whipping their profanities out on Twitter after Denver defeated Brady and company for the right to represent the AFC in the upcoming Super Bowl on February 7. That led to a letter on Facebook by a woman named “Sarah” to Newton, calling him “classless”.

The author said Newton should be banned from entering the Seattle stadium in 2016.

“I think it’s a trick question”, Newton stated, in response to an inquiry as to why he thinks he’s such a lightning rod despite a lack of legal trouble. But I say that to say if we all look at everyone’s situation, we can all say something about it. And for me to be in the position that I am today, when I see someone say this, that and the third about whatever, it’s like, ‘OK, well who are you? “Without them I wouldn’t be here”. They talk about skillset…. The only thing that’s changed is we’re winning.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera doesn’t believe Newton should have to fight perceptions about race. “Want and need are two different words, and that’s what I used in that text, along with other explicit words before the ‘need.’ And I think he got the feeling from that”. I always knew how to play football growing up. “I think that is what drives him, to be able to transcend those boundaries, which I think is great”.

“People should be scared of a quarterback with his skill set, because that’s who he is”, Rivera said.

The 26-year-old also said he understands that no matter what he does and what he accomplishes, people will formulate reasons to criticize him.
