On Thursday in Ottawa, Trudeau said the countries are launching exploratory talks towards a free trade agreement.

Fidel and Li Keqiang expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen cooperation and friendship between the parties, governments and peoples.

On Tuesday, Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister has avoided to question on sensitive topic like extraditions to China.

China is Cuba’s second largest trading partner following Venezuela.

At the invitation of President of the Cuban Council of State and Council of Ministers Raul Castro Ruz, Li, accompanied by his wife Cheng Hong, will begin an official visit to the Caribbean island country on Saturday.

Malmierca said that, in the new pact, Cuba and China agreed on an economic agenda with a medium and long term vision to boost cooperation in infrastructure, telecommunications, tourism, energy, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and health.

“I brought up a broad range of concerns around security when I met with Chinese leadership a number of weeks ago, and will continue to talk about those issues when I meet with China in the coming days”, Trudeau told a news conference Wednesday. Li said China wanted to “inject a new dynamic in relations” by working more closely with the Cuban government.

The goal, Mr. Trudeau said, is to double bilateral trade between Canada and China by 2025.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang (L) experiences on a vechile exported by China’s Yutong Group during his visit in Havana, Cuba, Sept. 25, 2016. Trudeau and Li agreed to meet annually to discuss security and the rule of law, and economic and financial matters.

The fact is, Canada has extraordinarily high standards for extradition treaties, and those will always be upheld with anyone around the world, he declared.

Li noted that China has an extradition treaty with over 40 countries, including some European countries. And say goodbye to the “building friendship and mutual trust” that the Chinese put so much stock in in their reset relations with Mr. Trudeau and his government.

“We have created a dialogue”, he said.

Li was asked about capital punishment in China by reporters on Parliament Hill, and responded that China is one of many nations that still use the death penalty to punish serious crimes. He warned that if China that “if we abolish the death penalty, innocent people will lose their lives”.

“And people have been reluctant to speak about”, he said.

According to the daily’s report, China now has no formal extradition treaty with Canada.

Stay on topic – This helps keep the thread focused on the discussion at hand.

“I’m pleased to welcome you here to Canada and look forward to our working together”.

Be Civil – It’s OK to have a difference in opinion but there’s no need to be a jerk.
