Civil War is set for a May 6 release, so expect to see plenty more of this along with some official images/teasers over the next few months. The movie is based on source material that has been readily available since 2006. While there may be some light spoilers ahead, spoilers from the Civil War comics arc will be mostly avoided due to the film clearly using the storyline as inspiration rather than directly adapting it. Are you ready? The scene will supposedly feature Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and Emily VanCamp stepping up as the new Cap.
As anyone who’s read Ed Brubaker’s run of the Captain America comics knows, Steve Rogers met a gruesome fate following the original Civil War story, being gunned down shortly after surrendering himself to the authorities. After decades of being the brainwashed Winter Soldier, he finally overcame HYDRA’s control in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and is on the run. But this will be a first if Sharon Carter assumes the name. But it’s speculated that Marvel wants to throw a huge curve ball by introducing a Female Captain instead. But to see Marvel go through with it on the big screen? Though she wouldn’t be the first female to ever take up the mantle in Marvel history, she would be the first major live-action gender-swapped superhero.
Captain America’s death will be a little ambiguous as to whether this was all planned out or not Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Jr. will be very upset at Steve’s funeral and the mood will be rather solemnly. Would you like to see the death of Captain America playing out in Civil War? However, after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team.
Critics discussed how “Civil War” will ultimately change the dynamics of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how it will lay the grounds for up and coming characters.
