There have been trade talks between Boston and Cleveland centered around Kevin Love, but the Daily News’s Frank Isola reports that they’ve extended to include NY.
The Cavaliers and Celtics have discussed a trade that would send Cavs power forward Kevin Love to the Celtics, per the New York Daily News.
Looking at this logically, any trade which would send Kevin Love to Boston would need to involve a third team – Boston has depth players and draft picks, and the Cavs aren’t really in the market for either. As noted yesterday, one of the big issues around the deal was the fact that Carmelo Anthony would have to waive his no-trade clause.
According to the report, the Celtics would receive Love, the Cavs would take Melo, and the Knicks would get back picks and role players, one of which is believed to be former Knick Timofey Mozgov.
Phil Jackson had intimated this week that Anthony was untradeable, but only provided one reason: “I think it’s a known fact that Carmelo has a no-trade”.
Team executives, however, are treating the league’s biggest annual gathering as something different altogether: a summit to discuss potential deals with Thursday’s trade deadline fast approaching.
“I think everybody kind of dreams and hopes that they can play with another great player, another star player”. Plus Anthony reiterated on Friday that he has no plans to seek a trade. As enticing as it sounds, Anthony stated today that he has no interest in being traded, as reported by ESPN. However, Anthony would get to play with a lot less pressure in an already established Cavaliers team. But I think everybody that’s in my situation, that’s in my position, they all want the load off especially the older they get.
According to Anthony, going to Cleveland is not happening.
“Doing it in NY is better than doing it any place in the world”, Anthony said.
Playing alongside his long-time friend LeBron obviously appeals to Anthony and would give him a chance at that elusive National Basketball Association title.
The Celtics own multiple first round picks, including the Brooklyn Nets pick this June.
