Case Keenum enters the game for Vikings in 2nd quarter

October 10 08:00 2017

Before he reached the line of scrimmage he handed it off to tight end Zach Miller going the opposite way. Quarterback Sam Bradford, who had been out since Week 1 with a left knee injury, made his return.

Beginning at Soldier Field in Chicago is 7:30 pm CDT (5:30 pm PT / 8:30 pm ET). Trubisky couldn’t finish the job, but his first start gave the Bears something to build on. Abe Froman might be the Sausage King of Chicago, but there was a clear vision of the next Football King of Chicago in the flesh.

Trubisky certainly showed that he belongs on the big stage, maintaining poise and showing off his raw play-making ability all night. The turnover allowed the Vikings to run the clock down and kick the winning field goal with 12 seconds left. “It’s a kid’s game that we’re playing, so why not have fun and do the things that make you happy?”

Now, if only someone could tell me why he didn’t feel adventurous enough to go for the tie afterward. “We called the play, the play we run all week in practice”.

The Latavius Murray experiment continues to be an abject failure. “I just forced one”.

Monday featured only flashes of his potential, whether it’s mobility, accuracy, arm strength or awareness. Such a change is very much in play for Trubisky, too; Bears coach John Fox is on the hottest of seats with his team at 1-4. It’s going to be a lost season for them with Trubisky at quarterback, at least in terms of wins and losses.

You would’ve thought the Pope, Gandhi and George “Papa Bear” Halas were bringing the game ball out for Monday Night’s showdown with the Vikings.

Behold this play, in all its glory. “We can’t put him in those positions”. Minnesota won 20-17. “We had plenty of chances to win it early on”.

The Bears are excited and a bit anxious about starting their new Rookie QB Mitch Trubisky. So tough as it was to walk in with a loss in his first outing, he knew it came with the territory.

“Just taking ownership”, he said.

I feel for Zimmer as he always has had these terrible circumstances. That’s what I’ve been doing my whole life. You just take it. “I’m an aggressive player”.

The Vikings overcame two instances of Bears trickery Monday. Trubisky, the No. 2 overall selection in this year’s National Football League draft, did some very good things, although several of them were negated by the Bears’ all-around dreadfulness.

Moments later, Trubisky ran for a two-point conversion on a trick play that fooled the Vikings’ defense. We’ll take every day, day by day and see how it goes. And some of Trubisky and the offenses’ best plays became causalities of this mistakes. “I don’t think there was any doubt whatsoever he was ready to play”. He felt good about it. They chose to make a change after a blowout loss at Green Bay on September 28, and all eyes were on Trubisky in this one.

It was hard to watch, and you kept wondering when Zimmer would take him out. “I’ve duck-hunted before. I’ve never heard, ‘Oh, there’s a gray duck'”.

Second: hot damn. That’s just a special throw.
