Cavaliers’ Kevin Love (back) planning on playing Saturday against Knicks

Kristaps Porzingis finally gave a statement after rumors of Carmelo Anthony getting traded off in the premier National Basketball Association league.

They carried that momentum over into the fourth quarter, as they would cut the Cavaliers lead down to five points after a Carmelo Anthony steal and dunk.

Looking at the trade scenario, many believe that Jackson is using Melo as a bait to capture Love. Analysts believe that a frontcourt pairing of Porzingis and Love could set up NY for years to come. Questions will always be asked of his ability to play defense, but he has matured in the last couple of years and has become a true leader for his team, especially after the Rio Olympics. Taking nothing away from the three, but Anthony has had a tougher route. Not only would they be getting something instead of nothing if Redick were to walk this summer, they’re also replacing his production with Carmelo freaking Anthony. Anthony also has a 15-percent trade kicker that will make it hard to move him.

Reports suggest that the Cavaliers’ hesitation about trading out Love is understandable since it took them several seasons to build up that chemistry among their main players, which means giving in to the Knicks’ offers might be counter-productive. The Knicks have gone down that road before when they traded Patrick Ewing in 2000. NY is not in the best position, as the 10th place team of the Eastern Conference. He tried to do a quick fix this off-season by poorly constructing a team he thought could make the playoffs.

Anthony will be seen as a selfish superstar who cares more about his own convenience than the best interests of the Knicks.

The last team in the list are the Clippers. Unfortunately, that trade would not include DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, J.J. Redick, or Chris Paul. The Knicks got as close as 106-101 when Anthony stole a ball from James and scored.

The Clippers remain the most likely target.

Anthony has a golden opportunity to prove this team is best with him, as the world tunes in to watch a primetime matchup. He’s one of our leaders. Spurs have all the pieces, they can defend, attack, shoot from outside as well as score on the inside. They never got it under 13 for the remainder of the half. He knows that players in the final year of their contracts are attractive trade chips.
