LeBron and company may kick up the intensity in the playoffs, but if they have been THIS BAD over such an extended stretch, can they be good enough to win it all again? It’s not like we’re eighth seed and we needed a team to win to back in the playoffs.
Wearing a protective brace, Thompson finished with 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting and four rebounds in 18 first-half minutes on Fan Appreciation Night at The Q, where the Cavs fell behind 53-34 at halftime after a 13-point second quarter. In all four matchups, the Pacers have scored more than 100 points, including a 103-93 victory at home over the Cavs on November 16 – a game in which James did not play.
The Pacers face the Cavaliers Saturday afternoon at Quicken Loans Arena at 3:00 P.M.
Jones took over the spot on Cleveland’s roster vacated by DeAndre Liggins, who was waived Sunday. “I think the East has gotten better”.
There’s plenty of basketball to be played in between that possible series anyway and as we all know, the NBA Playoffs start a new season in and of itself. The longer the season went on the more they struggled on that end of the floor.
The Cavs signed Edy Tavares, the seven-foot-three mainstay of the 905 front line to a contract yesterday, robbing the D-League team of a player who averaged 10.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and a league-best 2.7 blocked shots per game. The Cavs signed him on April 13, 2016, in almost identical circumstances to this year.
Paul George will be appearing in his first playoff appearance since before the gruesome knee injury he endured in the summer of 2014. He punched Toronto’s Bismack Biyombo in the groin in the final minute of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. He scored 43 points in Cleveland’s 135-130 double overtime win over the Pacers on April 2nd. At 32 years old, he’s going to be exiting his prime very quickly, and we’re not sure how many years he has left in the league as a dominant force.
James has always respected George, and his appreciation for him only grew during his fight for redemption. “Every time he sees us he plays well, so we got to do a good job of being really locked into him, knowing where he’s at, at all times and try to take him out of the series”. The Cavaliers won’t have LeBron James on Wednesday night, and are 0-7 this season when he doesn’t play.
Game 2: Monday, April 17, 7 p.m.
“I have a lot of great friends in this locker room and guys I care about”, Jones said.
In fact, James has entered the postseason playing for the top-seeded team in the East only once in the last four years.
“I’m ecstatic to be here, my first time to watch the Cavaliers”. But George has not only bounced back, the star forward said he’s been aiming for a shot at the champions. I pride myself on being a teammate first, keeping everybody upbeat, everybody focused. “He worked incredibly hard”.
A defensive stopper with playoff experience, Jones was released at the end of training camp in October and hasn’t played this season.
