Celebrity legend Zsa Zsa Gabor dies, aged 99

The legendary Hungarian actress died Sunday in her Bel Air mansion, her publicist confirmed to Celebrity Insider. “You just can not drive a Rolls-Royce in Beverly Hills any more”, she said, “because they have it in for you”. She had undergone hip replacement surgery but was re-admitted to the hospital because of blood clots and swelling.

Gabor was born in Budapest on 6 February 1917. The last stage of her life was reported to have been spent suffering from dementia. Zsa Zsa’s sole heir is her husband, “Prince” Frederic von Anhalt. Zsa Zsa was actually married to Conrad Hilton, Paris’s grandfather, from 1942-1947. The couple’s divorce left the actress free to pursue a film career in Hollywood. She was Zsa Zsa in “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3”.

Born Sari Gabor, she was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936 and was a stage actress in Vienna before arriving in the US with her sisters Eva and Magda just as Europe was being engulfed by the war.

She was famous for being famous, that’s true. “Because Zsa Zsa has the best heart in the world”.

The Hungarian prima donna was not without losses herself; her daughter died on January 5, 2015, from a massive stroke. “Anyway, it’s awfully boring to be called the “good” Gabor!”

Although she wrote books such as “Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Complete Guide to Men”, she made headlines simply by being famous.

In a lifetime filled with classics, some of Gabor’s gems included: “I am a marvellous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house”; “A man in love is incomplete until he has married”.

Gabor’s marriage to Hilton, who was three decades older, lasted until September 1946 and produced her only child, Francesca Hilton. “They were all good experiences and I learned something important from each”.

“We both had one thing in common”, she said. There will never be another you. Her glamorous personality helped her land a wealthy string of husbands, calling everyone “Dah-ling”, and flaunted a diamond-studded lifestyle. Sanders then ended up marrying her sister Magda in 1970.

Von Anhalt was a controversial figure himself – in 2007, while still married to Gabor, he claimed to have fathered Dannielynn Smith, the baby daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith. Four and a half years ago, I gave up my life. She created the role, and she lived it, playing it to perfection.
