Celine Dion’s final goodbyes to her husband and brother

January 24 20:02 2016

Celine Dion mourns the death of her brother at his memorial service just one day after her husband’s funeral.

According to Le Journal de Montreal, Celine and her family sang together in honor of 59-year-old singer Daniel, who died of cancer on January 16.

The singer, the youngest of 14 children, then headed to Repentigny, Quebec on Saturday to join her mother and siblings at the Salon Rajotte Charles funeral home, where they sang to honour Daniel Dion, who was also a vocalist. Celine’s 3 kids were not present… clearly too much to bare.

Rene-Charles Angelil and recording artist Celine Dion attend the State Funeral Service for Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, at Notre-Dame Basilica on January 22, 2016 in Montreal, Canada.

Daniel’s funeral is set to take place at Saints-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne on Monday (25Jan16) and will be laid to rest in the Cote-des-Neiges cemetery in Montreal.

Golf, hockey, poker and smoked meat: That’s what father-son bonds are made of.

It has been a week of heartbreaking goodbyes for Celine Dion.

Dressed entirely in black and wearing a veil, Dion entered the church, holding the hands of her five-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy.

He said Friday marked the third occasion he had been to the Notre-Dame Basilica for a Dion-Angelil event: their 1994 wedding, the baptism of their eldest son Rene-Charles and finally, Angelil’s funeral. He said: “You are a tough act to follow, but with your help, everything’s going to be fine”. “I love you, Dad”.

“And now, more than ever, we realize how exceptional it was to have had a father who never hesitated to utter such precious words”.
