Following last night’s Boston Celtics, 120-106, win over the Bucks in game 2, Bledsoe was asked about having to defend Celtics guard Terry Rozier III. He scored 12 points in Game 2 but is 9-for-25 in the series with six turnovers.
Milwaukee got 30 points, nine rebounds and eight assists from Giannis Antetokounmpo.
They got it. Meet Terry Rozier. Instead, he focuses on his team’s effort and proving people wrong as a unit.
One of Stevens’ most pronounced decisions this series has been not to double-team Antetokounmpo unless he’s inside the restricted area.
“Who?” Bledsoe responded, after being asked “how personally” he took the matchup against the opposing point guard. A minute into his first career playoff game, in came Yabusele, hurling his body out of bounds to save a loose ball, flipping it back to Rozier for an open three. If not for Khris Middleton’s heroics to force overtime, Bledsoe’s defensive breakdown would have been a key storyline before Game 2. By the time Baynes checked out of the game with 3:38 remaining in the period, Boston had sped out to a commanding 80-65 lead.
He’s an 80-percent free throw shooter, so it was an uncharacteristically shaky night for the Greek Freak. They look nothing like a team many picked to lose in the first round. “We started off poorly again”.
Boston had just three turnovers through three quarters and only seven on the night.
“I don’t even know who the fuck that is”, Bledsoe said.
Boston also played well to start Game 1 and led 29-17 after that first quarter, only to see the Bucks storm back and take a 47-44 lead into Sunday’s halftime. Marcus Morris led Boston’s reserves with 18 points.
Second-year guard Jaylen Brown finished with a game-high 30 points.
Shane Larkin’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer had Boston up 90-75 entering the fourth quarter. And more importantly, will they be able to get this series back on track? Don’t believe us? Take a look at the numbers. “My teammates, my coach, they trust in me to get everybody in the right spots, to run the plays”. He averaged 20.1 points per game last season, but he dipped to 12.6 points this season and doesn’t appear to have a role with the Bucks going forward.
“Obviously they’ve all had their moments – Middleton has been a handful. Then obviously (Malcolm) Brogdon off the bench has had two double-figure games in the first two games”. Wearing a dark checkered sport coat, Curry was all smiles watching another lopsided victory without him.
Game three is on Friday.
