CFP Rankings: Texas A&M 4th behind ‘Bama, Clemson, Michigan

And the top-ranked team from those five conferences will get into one of the big six bowls – likely the Cotton Bowl. If Auburn is 9-2 entering that game and can knock off an undefeated Alabama, it will still need Texas A&M – which holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with Auburn – to lose another game.

Along with that win over the 10th-ranked Cornhuskers, the Badgers have an impressive victory against 15th-ranked LSU, while their two losses came in close defeats to No. 2 MI and sixth-ranked Ohio State. Alabama registered five sacks, Jalen Hurts had 259 total yards and Damien Harris rushed for 126 more in the win over the Aggies, which was the toughest test do date for the Tide. Ohio State’s best win is over No. 8 Wisconsin, but lost to No. 12 Penn State.

The top four teams in the final CFP rankings, to be announced December 4, will meet in the semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl (Glendale, Ariz.) and the Peach Bowl (Atlanta) on December 31.

There isn’t a team left alive in the playoff field that doesn’t have some obstacles in its way.

Losing two games isn’t the most conventional way to earn a Team of the Month nomination. The top four teams qualify for the two semifinal games, which will be held at the Fiesta and Peach bowls on December 31.

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett said he is unconcerned with the College Football Playoff rankings that will be released today and said there is still plenty of football to play.
