Chelsea complete loan signing of striker Pato

In the latest Chelsea transfer news, interim boss Guus Hiddink confirmed that the club were looking to complete the loan move of Alex Pato but refused to sign the player on a permanent contract because of the “risks” involved.

Hiddink claims the deal has been held up by paperwork, but everything is nearly in order.

“We’re not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future”, the Dutchman said.

‘It’s not a gamble.

The player has expressed his delight at securing his move to Chelsea and could make his debut in Wednesday night’s trip to face Watford once the transfer is finalised. “It’s a minor injury so we’ll see what happens in the coming hours”. “It is a fearless step”.

He said: “I’m so happy”.

Hiddink was asked about the contribution of Costa, who has six goals in six games after a prior fallow spell under Jose Mourinho, including netting last Sunday’s decisive strike in the Premier League win at Arsenal. “I’ve not watched much of him”, Hiddink said.

“He’s a young player, a promising player – let’s see if he can get himself to the high demands of this club and the Premier League”.

“We’ll give him time to settle, then it’s up to him”.

Hiddink will be desperate for Pato-who scored 19 goals in 59 showings for Sao Paulo on loan since 2014-to help fire Chelsea into unlikely contention for a European spot, while there may well be expectations that the Brazil forward could flourish in the Champions League.

Loic Remy, meanwhile, is in search of more first-team opportunities as he works his way back to full fitness following a persistent calf problem, and on Tuesday sources told ESPN FC that Newcastle United have contacted Chelsea about a possible loan deal for the striker.

“He’s not to be considered second choice”.

“Gary was very open and very clear, that he loves to stay in this club”. He’s of big importance and will be, with the multitude of games coming up. He’s very happy here but of course not playing, there’s a little frustration.
