In 2015, the NCC had organised a national-level coordinated performance which entered the Limca Book of Records for the largest yoga performance by a single uniformed organisation. The mission, this time, utilized the services of a Saudi Yoga instructor who demonstrated several Yoga Asanas.

Heavy rains lashed Jammu when the yoga celebrations attended by hundreds of people were underway. Various Yoga camps were also conducted by Army units and formations in Northern Command across the entire state of Jammu & Kashmir to commemorate International Yoga Day.

At the start, while emphasizing on the utility and benefits of yoga, he said, “The discipline is an invaluable gift of India’s tradition, as yoga aims to transform both body and mind”.

Past year on June 21, when Yoga Day was first observed, more than 40,000 cadets had performed a simultaneous exhibition across the state, setting a record.

It may be recalled that the United Nations (UN) in 2014 had declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga after adopting a measure proposed by India’s current Narendra Modi government.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being of humans. “It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature”.
