Clinton commits to more debates, avoids specifics

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders ramped up his criticism of Hillary Clinton’s ties to Wall Street and history of evolving on issues, seeking an upset victory in Monday’s first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses.

The ad will be airing in Iowa on Friday and says the nation’s economy “works for Wall Street because it’s rigged by Wall Street and that’s the problem”.

As you know, the Bernie Sanders campaign says they won’t agree to debate next week unless you agree to specific dates for three additional debates.

The senator met with the president Wednesday at the White House and returned to Iowa in the evening to ponder if he has the stomach to directly attack Clinton for the win or maintain his well-earned reputation for eschewing negative campaigning. “I’ve been for, you know, for a long time, (saying) that I’d be happy to have more debates and I hope we can get this done”.

“Support for Sanders has come from those who are new to the process, but the current poll indicates he is also cutting into Clinton’s lead among die-hard Democratic partisans”, said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a statement accompanying the poll results.

The campaign’s ad makers have prepared two sets of commercials: One continues the feel-good tone of “America”, the campaign’s popular 60-second spot, which shows farmers, children, dancing older couples and families cheering for Sanders, to the sound of Simon and Garfunkel’s 1960s folk anthem of the same name.

Clinton’s push for more debates signals her deficit in New Hampshire against Sanders, who has represented neighboring Vermont in Congress for more than two decades.

“It’s a cynical political ploy in a primary that had until recently been characterized by a respectful back-and-forth about the issues, and it’s not one that’s going to go over well with Iowans”, Paul said.

No matter what happens in Iowa or on February 9 in the primary in New Hampshire, where Sanders now enjoys an advantage, Clinton remains the favorite to win the nomination.

It came on a day when Sanders’ campaign conducted damage control in Nevada and released the senator’s medical records, something he had vowed to do before the Iowa caucus. Both (former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley) and I have agreed, and we’re waiting for (Sanders) to decide to join us.

Clinton laid out her economic plan, which she said emphasized the middle class. She promised to create more jobs, higher incomes and more spending on infrastructure, while not raising taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. “If not, I think we’re going to be struggling”. “But that’s something we’re still talking about”, he said. “Let’s not go around distorting a record that I am very proud of”.

“You are in overall very good health and active in your professional work, and recreational lifestyle without limitation”, wrote Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the attending physician of Congress. He underwent hernia surgery earlier this year but is in good health, his doctor said.

If elected, Sanders would be the oldest president to assume office, surpassing Ronald Reagan who was 69 when he entered the White House.
