Clinton Is Picking Up Speed as She Barrels Into Super Tuesday

March 03 20:09 2016

Donald Trump may be looking stronger than ever as he goes into Super Tuesday but his popularity among Republicans continues to be dogged by controversy.

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia are all taking part along with the territory of American Samoa. To be true, they can start voting at 6 a.m., while Democrats and Republicans in Colorado won’t start caucusing until 9 p.m. Eastern time.

How completely will Trump dominate? Several Republican senators in Democratic-leaning states are vulnerable, and some Republican leaders fear that a Trump candidacy could put the Democrats back in control of the Senate. Ted Cruz, are engaged in a frantic effort to stop the billionaire real estate magnate, but it was unclear whether they had made their move too late.

The Florida senator has not won a single state, but he earned rave reviews and heavy coverage this week for a Trump-mocking debate performance. Rubio has hammered Trump as a “con artist”, pointing to his hiring of undocumented immigrants on construction projects and his namesake university.

Rubio says Trump’s decision not to denounce the public support of former KKK leader David Duke disqualifies him from the nomination by “the party of Lincoln”.

Donald Trump has emerged as the GOP frontrunner for the presidency, and many Americans, including some in his own party, cringe at the chance that he might win the party’s nomination. She was assured of winning at least 334 of the 865 at stake on Super Tuesday.

After days of relentlessly building expectations, the pressure is now on the Texas senator to perform.

“I am increasingly concerned by Donald Trump’s statements and behavior, and I have serious concerns about his ability to win the general election and provide presidential leadership”, Indiana Sen. Will Cruz be celebrating increased strength among evangelicals, from whom Trump has been siphoning support?

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a GOP presidential candidate, speaks to his supporters at a rally at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Sunday night, February 28, 2016.

During his press conference in Palm Beach, FL, Trump also looked ahead to the general election, bragging about his ability to cut a deal with Congress. Additionally, almost one half of the total delegates needed to gain the Republican nomination are up for grabs, while about one third of the Democratic delegates are at stake.

The Republican establishment has shown increasing signs of panic. The poll was conducted during the week of February 22 through February 28, 2016, during the week leading up to Super Tuesday.

In most states, polls close at 7pm or 8pm local time, with the results expected to come through tomorrow. Cruz also won in neighboring Oklahoma. Rubio campaigned there Monday alongside South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a particularly effective surrogate.

Sanders’ digital fundraising operation – buoyed by a strong email list, text pleas and a base of support built with young voters – has proven to be one of his campaign’s most effective tools.

“If our party is no longer working for the things we believe in – like defending the sanctity of life, stopping Obamacare, protecting the Second Amendment, etc. – then people of good conscience should stop supporting that party until it is reformed”, he wrote.

Rubio won’t be leaving the race anytime soon, no matter what happens Tuesday.
