“Amnesty. The Republican Obama”.
“The desperation kicks in”, Rubio said in response. “That’s what they throw at you”.
Speaking to a Dubuque crowd Saturday, Trump said: “You’re from Iowa”. More Democrats are excited about a possible Clinton candidacy and her supporters see no room for waffling, convinced she is the candidate to support. Several states use a more collegial approach to picking a nominee, and Iowa is the first.
The next scheduled debate will be held Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 11 February, two days after the New Hampshire primary and less than two weeks before the South Carolina Democratic primary.
Republican Donald Trump, a slight favorite over Ted Cruz in Iowa, predicted that “many” senators “soon” would endorse him rather than their Texas colleague.
“We want their voices to be heard in this campaign, and holding a debate in Flint would go a long way toward achieving that goal”, he added. “And if we can win and pull off a major upset, it will really be a springboard I think to other states”, the senator said.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s campaign, however, injected a degree of uncertainty into the situation on Saturday afternoon by calling for one of the debates to be held in Flint, Mich., where the city’s water was contaminated with lead after officials changed its supply source.
“It’s virtually tied”, Sanders said, a reasonable summation of polls. A snowfall forecast to start Monday night appeared more likely to hinder the hopefuls in their rush out of Iowa than the voters.
A senior Sanders caucus strategist, who also spoke on background, allowed that caucus rules allow for these kind of math games, but said the Sanders campaign has no similar plan.

Clinton has repeatedly tried to appeal to Democratic voters by saying she will enact tougher gun restrictions than Sanders. Barack Obama, whose 2008 victory here put him on a path to the White House. Bernie Sanders, suggested that political point-scoring helped explain the hubbub over the State Department’s announcement Friday that it was withholding some emails on the home server she used while secretary of state.
That heat was coming from Republicans; Sanders earlier declared the email flap a nonissue in his mind.
“We have consistently worked with our campaigns to ensure a schedule that is robust and that allows them to engage with voters in a variety of ways, whether through debates, forums, town halls, but also leaving them the flexibility to attend county fairs and living room conversations in states like Iowa and New Hampshire where direct voter contact matters so much”, she said. “I think she is smart, focused, understands the issues better than anyone else, and is experienced”.
McCaskill, the Missouri senator, says Sanders is running on “promises that in his gut he’s got to know can’t be kept”. “How can we continue to ignore the toll this is taking on our children and our country?” Precinct captains can then calculate easily whether, say, Clinton can – without cost to her own delegate count – boost O’Malley to a viability. Bernie Sanders have reportedly agreed to four additional debates, including one Thursday in New Hampshire before the state’s February 9 primary.
