Clinton, Trump Use Whatever They’ve Got in the Final Push

As polls have tightened in the race between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican businessman Donald Trump, more attention has been paid to getting out the vote in traditionally Democratic urban centers like Detroit next Tuesday.

Campaigning for Hillary Clinton on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Wednesday, President Obama told the crowd, “The fate of the republic rests on your shoulders”.

“One out of five Americans who goes to the doctor because they’re sick, can’t afford to fill out the prescription given by the doctor”, Sanders explained. “After we elect Hillary on November 8, I want you to wake up on November 9, roll up your sleeves and begin the process of taking on the billionaire class and transforming this country”.

Months after Clinton claimed the Democratic nomination, Sanders, a once bitter primary foe, is now making the case that Clinton is better on issues such as the economy and climate change. His children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, also rallied voters in the state this week.

Clinton’s advisers and campaign staff insisted that the foray into MI was to keep up get-out-the vote efforts that had been previously focused on states with early voting, which MI doesn’t have.

Many of those in attendance said they supported the Vermont senator during his Democratic primary and were disappointed to learn recently what was happening behind the scenes between party leaders and the media to boost Clinton’s campaign. Al Garcia of Gorham said he is waiting until Election Day to vote because he hasn’t officially made up his mind, and that Sanders has the potential to change it.

Sanders formally ended his White House bid and officially endorsed Clinton at a unity rally in mid-July at the high school in Portsmouth.

There were also some people there not supporting either Sanders or Clinton. “We are not going back to a bigoted society”.

Ron Johnson’s campaign complains that progressive groups are dumping in cash to help Feingold, but Democrats say Johnson is receiving far more outside help.

“The concern is Trump is bombarding the state”, Demas said. That is what Hillary Clinton wants to do. Her shrunken lead gives Trump’s campaign a glimmer of hope, one he’s trying to broaden into a breakthrough before time runs out.
