A judge ruled for his bond to be set at $500,000 (£344,000) bond.

On Facebook, Mary Ann and Wesley Landers and their two daughters looked like the “picture flawless family”, says a friend.

The death of Mary Ann Landers has shocked the small town of Trinity, Alabama, where she and her husband where known as doting church-going parents.

The pair were with a 7-month-old little girl, who according to a GoFundMe account had surgery last week to have her trachea reconstructed.

This story has been corrected to reflect that the name of the hospital is Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, instead of Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center.

He was arraigned Friday in Cincinnati on charges of drug possession, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability and possessing drug abuse instruments.

HAMILTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICEWesley Landers was arraigned on drugs and weapons charges Friday.

During the preliminary hearing, Judge Curt Kissinger said, “If the heroin epidemic has exhibited itself in a more tragic form, I haven’t seen it”.

Police say they have no other information to release yet.

Police have not said if she is the child’s mother. Posts state the family was seeking assistance with covering out-of-pocket expenses for surgery the baby was undergoing Wednesday.

“God had a bigger plan for her and He gave Lucy to her because He knew she was the flawless mom for the job”, she said.

“At Cincinnati Children’s, patient safety is a top priority and taken very seriously”, the hospital said in a statement.

A family friend told Tucson News Now she was stunned.

Newtown Police Chief Thomas Synan Jr., who works with the Hamilton County Heroin Coalition and Task Force, told cincinnati.com that the overdoses weren’t “necessarily shocking”.
