Couple, two children dead after alleged impaired driving crash near Saskatoon

Warman RCMP arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road on Sunday at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Weber said the crash remains under investigation and more charges may be laid.

Court records list the victims as Jordan Van de Vorst, his wife Chanda Van de Vorst and two-year-old Miguire.

The married couple’s five-year-old daughter was taken to hospital.

The two adults died at the scene and both children were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“We were talking about going out the night of the crash after he got home, but he never got back to anybody”, said Murchison. “And we’re all going to miss him a lot”.

In photos posted on social media, they are a young, smiling family of four from Saskatoon.

In a video, the blond, pig-tailed girl squeals with excitement as she toboggans down a hill on New Years Day – just two days before the tragedy on Highway 11. The Saskatchewan Freedom Photography Group posted it Monday in memory of the family.

Catherine McKay, charged in the fatal crash, is listed as executive director of the Saskatoon Sports Council.

Police say the S-U-V was trying to cross the road at the time. She has been remanded into custody in Prince Albert until her bail hearing on Thursday.

McKay made her first court appearance on Monday.
