People took to malls on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to gobble up deals. “Shoppers are still buying at higher than expected levels in the early morning hours of Small Business Saturday”.

Since 2005, Cyber Monday has been the end of Thanksgiving week, as office workers’ brains haven’t quite returned to work, and they use the time to shop online.

Thanksgiving Day: consumers spent $1.93bn, 11.5% more than in 2015, with an average order value that was relatively flat at $160, compared to $162 in 2015. Though Black Friday continued to draw large crowds to stores, there are many people who feel it is inappropriate to spend Thanksgiving camped out in front of a brick and mortar store to buy items.

“Cyber Monday was one for the history books this year”, Tamara Gaffney, Adobe’s principal analyst said in a statement. The findings are based on aggregated and anonymous data from 23 billion visits to retail Web sites.

The feel of the weekend was different, too, he said in a blog report.

One Amazon fulfillment center is one of the busiest places on the planet thanks to Cyber Monday, which is expected to be bigger than ever with sales topping $3.3 billion.

Top-selling electronics on Cyber Monday included the Microsoft (MSFT) Xbox, Sony (SNE) PS4, Samsung 4K TVs, Apple’s (AAPL) iPad and the Amazon (AMZN) Fire TV stick.

Amazon has put the top gear with the mishmash of deals on nearly everything.

Amazon may have been the biggest victor on Black Friday, as the Institute for Local Self-Reliance estimates that the company now takes almost $1 of every $2 Americans spend online.

“I would say Black Friday has always been our biggest, so we play into that”, Starkman said.

But she still hopped online Monday to check out the deals.
