The Republican presidential hopeful described the Prime Minister as a “nice guy” and said they will “do just fine” despite Mr Cameron branding the tycoon’s comments on temporarily banning Muslims from America as “stupid, divisive, and wrong”.

In an interview with U.S. news channel MSNBC, Mr Trump said: “I will do just fine with David Cameron”.

The presumptive Republican White House nominee told MSNBC he received the invitation two days ago and he “might do it”.

Trump’s comments followed a transatlantic exchange between the two men over Cameron’s criticism.

Trump previously suggested in an interview with ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan that he might not have a good relationship with Cameron if he’s elected. “But they have asked me to visit 10 Downing Street – and I might do it”. “He continues to believe that preventing Muslims from entering the U.S.is divisive, stupid and wrong“.

The source added that the Prime Minister would be happy to meet either of the candidates – once nominated – if they came to Britain.

“I hope to have a good relationship with him but it sounds like he’s not willing to address the problem either”. I’m a unifier, unlike our president now.

Earlier this week, the provocative billionaire had choice words for London’s new Mayor Sadiq Khan, the first Muslim elected to run a Western capital city, who said Trump was “ignorant” about Islam and was making the world more unsafe with his rhetoric.

Downing Street has since said the PM stands by his criticism of but will work with whoever is elected United States president.

Trump fired back this week, saying on Monday he was likely not to have a good relationship with Cameron. “We’re going to have a better relationship than we have right now”, Trump added.

During a discussion on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” about policy in the Mideast, Trump said Cameron attacked him first but has since changed his tune.
