This makes the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop the smallest 13-inch model worldwide. The PC and smartphone maker today put up a webpage teasing consumers with the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 hybrid device.
Dell has announced earlier that they will be launching a new convertible XPS 13 in the event.
With the new Dell XPS 13 retaining its close to borderless 5.2mm InfinityEdge display that originally debuted at CES 2015, it will also ensure that the compact screen-to-size ratio remains. This laptop features the company’s own variant of high-definition display technology called HDR-ready to provide an incredible life-like experience to users. The screen rotates fully open so that it sits back to back with the bottom of the XPS 13, allowing the laptop to be used as a tablet. But, sometimes a laptop can transform into a tablet.
Dell has introduced an all new XPS 13 ultrabook with hybrid design and top-of-the-line hardware.
Elsewhere, most of the design is identical to the XPS 13 but there are some compromises on the ports.
While it was always a traditional notebook, Dell has now made it into a 2-in-1. Dell has also managed to completely nix the fan system, thus, making the XPS convertible completely noiseless even under extreme workloads. The convertible laptop also has fewer ports compared to its regular brother. The result is a laptop with a nice big display that is far more portable than most comparable models.
Companies like Lenovo and Dell, all working in the category of convertible laptops mean that it will be the year for convertibles for sure.
If you need something more powerful, Dell’s XPS 15 will be getting a refresh soon, with Intel’s latest high-end processors and Nvidia‘s new entry-level graphics chip. If streaming movies isn’t your thing and you want to use the XPS 13 for doing work, you’ll be able to get around 15 hours of use from the full HD model. As for ports, it sports a Thunderbolt 3 port, a DisplayPort, USB Type-C 3.1, microSD card reader, and a headset jack. It offers a brightness of 400 nits, and sports a USB Type-C port for power delivery, apart from a HDMI 2.0 port, and an audio line-out. There is an option to add a fingerprint sensor as well. Moreover, the webcam on the convertible XPS 13 now also supports Windows Hello, Microsoft’s fast login feature.
The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be available for order starting January 5 and has a base price of $999. Dell, for instance, touts a business configuration with 7th-generation Intel Core vPro processors and Dell BIOS and manageability software.
