Authorities announced more than 850 charges for Beta Theta Pi and 18 of its fraternity members involved in the “pledge night” that resulted in Piazza’s death. Those facing the most serious charges were arraigned Friday.

No charges were filed against Tim Bream, 56, a Penn State assistant athletic director and Beta Theta Pi adviser who lived at the fraternity house.

On Monday, authorities released a 911 call placed by fraternity brother Ryan McCann almost 12 hours after Piazza’s fall.

They were seen on camera trying to slap him awake, and at one point, two of the brothers landed on top of his unconscious body.

Eyewitness News has learned a Rhode Island man is being charged in connection with a fraternity pledge’s death in Pennsylvania.

“The Beta Theta Pi fraternity’s national website says “(e) very member will live Beta Theta Pi’s values”; and that Beta Theta Pi members “choose to act responsibly, weighing the consequences of their actions on themselves and those around them”; they display integrity when “Betas choose to act responsibly, weighing the consequences of their actions on themselves and those around them”.

A court filing by prosecutors last week says charges are likely against several people for “conduct surrounding the death of another person”.

In addition to involuntary manslaughter and other charges, chapter President Brendan Young and Vice President Daniel Casey now face 50 counts of hazing and reckless endangerment, stemming from hazing activities that date to spring 2016.

As ABC News reported Friday, all defendants charged with involuntary manslaughter were preliminarily arraigned Friday afternoon.

“He was the unfortunate road kill in this adventure by these young men who thought that they were above the law”, he said.

In a group message to the brothers, one of them wrote: “Also Tim Piazza might actually be a problem”.

Penn State President Eric Barron added that the charges were “heart-wrenching and incomprehensible”. He suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries, a fracture at the base of his skull, and suffered respiratory failure as a result of his severe head trauma.

During “Hell Week”, Davis said, pledges had to run to their dorm rooms and back in 20 minutes. Mr Piazza was taken to hospital and died the next day.

The night Piazza fell, Rizzo told investigators, he heard the sound and went to the top of the basement stairs. Davis said that when he first saw Piazza passed out on a couch, others were laughing, saying Piazza had too much to drink.

If he refused to participate, he told investigators, it could have affected his pledge ranking and whether he could live in the fraternity house. Involuntary manslaughter. Aggravated assault. On March 30, Penn State levied hard sanctions against Greek life focused on hazing.

“I think the report and recommendation is going to open a lot of eyes about who knew what”, Parks Miller said, explaining she could not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation. Piazza falls down three steps and the brother leaves him on the floor.7:34 a.m.: A fellow pledge videotapes Piazza before leaving the house.7:55 a.m.: Piazza stands and staggers toward basement steps.

Beta Theta Pi International Fraternity has clearly and consistently expressed its position that it does not tolerate hazing or alcohol abuse in any form by its members”, the statement read.
