Denver Broncos head coach John Fox, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy: Gase was wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and offensive coordinator. Gase rose to prominence in 2013 as offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, who broke the all-time scoring record during his first year at the job. Jay Cutler’s 11 interceptions, down from 18 past year, also made Gase more attractive to the Dolphins, who are obviously willing to overlook Chicago’s 23rd-ranked red zone offense. Back when the Dolphins were on Hard Knocks during his rookie year Tannehill was openly ridiculed by his teammates for having no clue which National Football League team was in which division.

He then spent five seasons with the Detroit Lions, eventually becoming the team’s quarterback coach in 2007. I took him away from scouting and put him on the coaching staff as a quality control coach to get his feet wet and work hard and do whatever we asked him to do.

“Yes, I’ll call the offensive plays”, he said.

“I’m very happy for Adam”.

Added Manning: “He’s extremely bright on all things football, an excellent communicator and always eager to learn more”. It’s also possible they did and the Birds lost out to Miami, which is pretty concerning considering the Dolphins aren’t considered to be the most stable franchise. “I feel like I’ve been doing it for the last three years”, he said. “He’s ready for this for sure”. Despite dealing with a plethora of injuries to skill position players (Kevin White, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett and Eddie Royal), the Bears finished 21st in offense and 23rd in total points per game under Gase’s watch. But he helped Cutler reduce his turnovers and post a career-high passer rating of 92.3.

Gase is a protege of Nick Saban, who coached the Dolphins in 2005-06.
