Dominant Norway proud but humble amid gold rush

The Americans secured their worst showing in modern-era Olympic women’s figure skating with Mirai Nagasu failing to get any lift on her triple Axel and popping a triple Lutz.

As expected, Russian Federation went one-two on Friday, led by Alina Zagitova, who at 15 became the second-youngest Olympic singles champion of all time (26 days older than Tara Lipinski in 1998).

Those odds look good, given that there are still nine events left in which Norway can finish on the podium.

Also of note is the overlap between All-Star viewers and the games – or better said, the lack of overlap: less than half of the people who watched the All-Star game also watched the Olympics (either in other time slots or by timeshifting).

In 2012, the U.S. Olympic team created a committee on diversity and inclusion aiming to recruit a more diverse team to more accurately represent the racial and ethnic diversity of the country as a whole.

It took 80 minutes of heart-stopping action followed by an intense shootout, but the Canadian women’s hockey team ultimately fell short of a record-breaking fifth consecutive Olympic gold. “We must be doing something right”.

“The best sportsmen from every sport are working together and they share their knowledge”. The game is really a terrific game, it’s high-pace and it’s more physical than it was. Despite skating their fourth high-pressure program in a week, they came through for what Duhamel called “the pinnacle”.

“They have a tremendous respect for each other and just the camaraderie, you know”, Susie’s mom Louise told us. In the US, winter sports like hockey, snowboarding and skiing are dominated by white athletes from higher-income families. To be fair, the games are dominated by European nations that lack the racial diversity the USA boasts.

“We have free health care, we have free schools, you can have a PhD without paying anything, you just have to pay for food and shelter and the government will pay for everything else”, the 52-year-old added.
