Star Wars fans in Seattle will gather for a lightsaber vigil in honor of the late Carrie Fisher on December 30, 2016.
Carrie was best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the original ‘Star Wars” trilogy, a role which she reprised in the seventh instalment in the sci-fi series, “The Force Awakens’, released in 2015.
She was wrapping up filming on “Catastrophe”.
It’s not often that video games can bring a tear to your eye but players of “Star Wars: The Old Republic” pulled it off.
She made her film debut in the Warren Beaty flick Shampoo in 1975, but found fame with the 1977 release of Star Wars.
While Fisher will forever be iconic thanks to her role as Leia in Star Wars, her legacy will stretch far beyond that franchise.
Representatives for the studio and for Lucasfilm have not responded to requests for comment. Before Hermione Granger ever graced our books, we had Princess Leia rescuing her rescuers and showing us that we can be princesses and be kickass ladies as well. She will be deeply missed.
Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds expressed her sadness over the loss of her daughter on Facebook.
Kathleen said in a statement: “Carrie holds such special place in the hearts of everyone at Lucasfilm it is hard to think of a world without her”.
Her Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford described her as “one-of-a-kind” and said she lived her life “bravely”.
He said: “I met her at Stan Lee’s Comic Con once, just briefly”.
Carrie Fisher has passed away at age 60, her family confirmed in a statement.
Mark added that he was “devastated” at Fisher’s passing. “I’m angry and so sad”.
“When I saw the movie for the first time, I noticed my mom was not only equally as confident and strong as the men, she was one of the most confident characters in the entire film”, she explained.
