If that’s not enough, Cavaliers stars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James combined to record 71 points on 53.1 percent shooting, 17 rebounds and 15 assists.

Now, back in Cleveland, LeBron took a 20-win franchise (that he originally abandoned) and turned them into the dominant force in the Eastern Conference. Call them names. Write them off. Going 16-0 in the post-season and winning two championships in three years would cement this Warriors team as a “dynasty” spoken in same league as the 1990s Chicago Bulls, the 2000s Lakers and Spurs and the Celtics/Lakers teams of the 1980s. They lost in the 2015 NBA Finals thanks to the absence of Irving and Kevin Love, but they bounced back with the win previous year, and they had a good chance of defending.
And while most teams would prefer not to live on the edge, the Cavaliers seem to thrive there.
The Cavs memorably came back from 3-1 down against the same opponents to clinch the championship a year ago, and LeBron concedes he is exhausted of having to the climb the proverbial mountain.
It’s risky, and not for the faint of heart. It causes too much stress, man. Thompson’s “man’s league” comment poked the proverbial bear and it came back to bite him when the Cavs used it to help fuel their dramatic comeback run to win the National Basketball Association title. Of those 41 games, they won 31 of them and those wins came in dominating fashion. We weren’t up 3-0 previous year. Zero. That’s 0-126.
This is not to suggest that the Warriors aren’t capable of turning the tables back on the Cavs.
The odds they face remain extremely long.
Kevin Love made six 3-pointers and added 23 points and J.R. Smith knocked down five of Cleveland’s 24 3-pointers, another Finals mark. “We have been in this situation before”. Apparently, to the fans, it was just that bad in Game 4. In Game 4 however, the rest of the players on the team realize their roles and executed leading to a win.
“One quarter, each possession being huge for us, because that can make or break a team”.
The Warriors still have ample chances to win their second title in three seasons over the Cavs, something they failed to do last season.
Cleveland led 49-33 after the first quarter and 86-68 at half-time, the Cavaliers setting scoring records for any half or quarter in finals history.
Cleveland is now 4-0 the past two years when facing elimination against Golden State.
Some may say that this may be a repeat in history where the Cavaliers will bounce back after their game 4 victory.
“I was hoping they would get exhausted, but they didn’t seem to get exhausted tonight”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after Game 4, which ended just after midnight.
Then came the confusion over technical fouls.
Said LeBron when he was asked about the upcoming game. We all know that. “And obviously that is something that we have to make sure of, that we come in and we play our own style of ball and that we’re defending and rebounding and playing tougher than we did tonight”. I just didn’t want to give up the ball easy that way.
It’s fitting that the redemption tour would find its way back to this spot, a closeout Game 5 at Oracle, with the Warriors title in focus, and one great Stephen Curry performance to end it all.
The Cavs attempted 45 3’s, only one more than in Game 3 when they connected on 12 of them.
That’s right, the Cavs out-Warriorsed the Warriors.
The Warriors aren’t just looking for another championship.
Beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, and you have every reason to suspect they will go down as the best postseason team in National Basketball Association history.
Golden State clawed within seven, but then the Warriors began fouling and Kerr got nailed with his technical – one of seven in the game.
