Durant made threes, four of them.
But 90 seconds still remained in Game 3.
Everything is better after a victory, and this is no different. And between the five minute and one minute mark, Golden State unleashed a 14-2 run. Try to set a screen for him and get him to the right spot and, obviously, he does the rest. Stephen Curry is averaging 27.3 points and 6.3 assists while Kevin Durant is averaging 21 points and 7.5 rebounds. The only setback came on a 105-99 loss to Utah on April 10.
A similar situation occurred in Game 1 of the series, where the Warriors started the game with a 9-0 run in the first quarter and finished the first half with a 12-point lead.
He stayed patient and trusted in the work he put in going into the game and it paid off. Should the Jazz can get things back to 2-1, then they are guaranteed to make it back to Oakland for Game 5 matchup. “We know we can play better. Every time I roll out the bed and I have a game that day, I feel like I can go out there and score”. Both teams showcased superior defense and a powerhouse fourth quarter where Golden State held the Jazz scoreless for minutes at a time. “I knew my knee was just locking up a little bit”, Green told reporters. “And that’s again why they’re who they are and that’s why this team is such a good team and so hard to beat”.
The Warriors haven’t covered in this series yet, but I think they will tonight. The biggest problem the Jazz had all night was that they couldn’t keep the clamps down on the Warriors down the stretch of the fourth quarter, when the Dubs pulled away. The team’s 22-point lead at the end of the first quarter had actually increased to 23 points by halftime.
Earlier in the season, Green hit five 3s in Salt Lake City and later revealed that his aggressiveness was because he’d heard a comment from Jazz coach Quin Snyder that his team wouldn’t gameplan for Green’s deep shot. Golden State pushed the lead up 85-70 after Curry made a step-back 3-point shot with 2:52 left in the quarter. Golden State was up by 13 points when Barnes stepped on the floor. It’s nearly a foregone conclusion that the best team in the National Basketball Association will make it to the finals once again, but at least Utah has tried to put up a fight. Behind a big night from Steph Curry, the Warriors close out the sweep and beat the Jazz 111-98.
Not only that, Golden State was able to secure defensive rebounds, even with Gobert on the floor, which meant that there was only one possession for the Jazz.
A secret to the Warriors’ consistent success this postseason?
After the game, Warriors interim coach Mike Brown said that a game like this is “one of the reasons” they brought KD in. They’re just bam, bam, bam. “There was no panic involved or anything like that, especially during timeouts in the huddle”.
The Utah Jazz may still be without George Hill, which seriously hurts a team that’s already limited offensively. Andre Iguodala (11 points) was the only other player in double digits.
The Jazz once again got great games from their stars Gordon Hayward and Rudy Gobert. Gobert was responsible for all but two of the total missed free throws for Utah. The Warriors lost Game 3 in all four series a year ago and endured a four-quarter battle at Portland last month, trailing by 16 points before winning by six.
Game 3 is Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
