Easter snow brings cold start to April

April 03 23:00 2018

Luckily, there isn’t much moisture left so little to no accumulation is expected.

The snow is moving east toward Wisconsin and MI throughout the day on Saturday. Overnight lows are expected to bottom out in the 20s, with a light and variable wind throughout the night.

MORE RAIN AND WINTER PRECIP CHANCES: We’re not done with winter precipitation just yet.

The heaviest storm snow totals will be in areas north of Wisconsin Dells where precipitation will be mostly or all snow through the storm. Southwest winds become westerly 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts 35 to 40 miles per hour possible.

Shortly before 10 p.m., the Kansas City Royals announced the scheduled home game with the Chicago White Sox was postponed because of the snow and cold weather.

Meanwhile, an intensifying area of low pressure moving from Colorado on Monday to MI by Tuesday night will bring along snow and gusty winds, The Weather Channel reported.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, low around 17. Before that warm-up, Wednesday morning could have snow covered slick roads anywhere in MI. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. Locally, heavier amounts are expected across the St. Louis and Louisville regions.

Reports of crashes came mainly from areas on the southern and southwestern edge of Omaha, possibly due to lower temperatures in those areas.

Monday Night: A chance of rain after 2am.

Some of the snow could be moderate for time and there will be slippery spots on roads where the snow is coming down hard.

Wilson’s daytime high should crack the 80-degree barrier on Tuesday.

The high April sun angle and the warmth of the bigger daily swings of temperatures will help melt this snow fairly quickly.

The highest snowfall total from the storm as of Monday afternoon was 9 inches in Tobyhanna, Pa. That will make it feel a bit colder than the actual air temperature, with wind chills in the teens to start off Monday morning.

Much of the wintry mix is in northeast Nebraska.
