Election officials: Illinois early voting breaks records

Outside a Florida polling place, a woman campaigning for Donald Trump pepper-sprayed a Hillary Clinton voter.

Voters can visit votesPA.com to confirm their registration and locate their polling place, and Everyone.votesPA.com offers voter rights information in two easily downloadable brochures – “Everyone VotesPA 2016 Voter Guide” and “Top 5 Things Every Pennsylvania Voter Should Know for the 2016 Election”.

Find the locations and hours for the Chicago early voting sites here. ABC News is tracking such reports to determine whether they affect voters’ rights or election results.

She said she already has enough trouble convincing Harrison County voters that electronic voting is secure. We could literally have decades of a lot more free time while the Trumps worry about all the hard stuff. Honestly, I haven’t stood in line to vote since 2000, and the fact that so many in the Berkshires have voted early practically ensures I won’t have to deal with a line this year. As a scholar of African American and US religious history I am compelled to reflect on the politics of voting throughout history and pose these questions to young people considering staying home Tuesday. During an official count of the 2012 election, the Luzerne County Board of Elections rejected 283 provisional ballots and accepted 42 of them. Some remained outside of the radius but refused to leave when the owners of the property asked them to do so. Later in the interview, he said, “It’s largely a rigged system”.

“There were a lot of upset people”, Patience said.

Wait times were much faster in San Francisco, where voters moved through lines, usually within 15 minutes, said Elections Director John Arntz. The YMCA of the U.S. (Y-USA) announced last month that Y’s across the country will participate in Zoe’s Kids Day Out, an initiative to give children a safe place to play while their parents get out to the polls.

“I will mention it to them”, he said. Vote-by-mail ballots that are mailed must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 3 days after Election Day.

“We expect it to be busy”, Rains said. “I think our voters – majority – we’ve got to give them respect, too”. “I don’t think a lot of people would have thought we would see that in our generation”. If you’re in line by 7 p.m., the law says you do get to vote, no matter how long it takes. Using “force, fraud, menace or intimidation” to prevent someone from voting is also against state law and punishable by up to a year in prison. In a general sense, conservative politicians and voters are generally of the opinion that voter fraud is a widespread problem. By comparison, over 1.3 million people voted before the 2008 election and over 1.5 million did in 2012, according to state election officials.

No doubt the current national and state campaigns are doing little to educate or edify voters.

There were also reports of police officers appearing at polls in Missouri, which the Advancement Project, part of the Election Protection coalition, thought might cause a chilling effect for minority voters.

And one of the early voters was Lincoln Park resident Sarah Sanders, who showed up at the downtown voting location early on Monday.

We’ve written previously on the important role American citizens play and that is magnified in a mud-slinging election, as we have to work diligently to see through the muck and mire at what the future could hold.
