Elliott, surprising Prescott give Dallas backfield of future

It may not even matter.

It’s fantastic what a good start by a backup can do, isn’t it? But just half-wonder. Based on what we see so far, the Cowboys struck gold with Prescott. After a year of getting the most out of Darren McFadden, the Cowboys have Elliott filling Murray’s role and slashing opponents on the ground, especially behind that offensive line. I wonder if he can continue to dominate out of the slot like he has been for the first six games of the season?

Dallas is one franchise that has some serious questions to answer and the biggest is what will they do with Tony Romo? Starting to mess with success by pulling Prescott out despite the team running so well with him just doesn’t make much sense football-wise, and while Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett have been very loyal to Romo through the years, there’s no reason to make this decision based on loyalty.

Before the November 1 trade deadline, if possible, even though that move would cost Dallas about $14 million in cap space. “We’re going to keep improving each week”. Prescott also said he’ll do some fishing at home in Louisiana, which is hard to in Dallas with all the work he’s putting in for the Cowboys. “I think he wants to get away from things for a few days and be with people he knows and loves”. I think we’ve gotten better every game from the [season-opening] Giants’ game on and we found a way to cause more turnovers.

Or Romo’s team. Slip of the tongue there? And the 36-year old’s heath status seems to be subjective as long as Prescott is winning. I thought I was being generous considering how well they’ve played without Tony Romo in the past. That’s the competitor in me. I’ve never kind of been that guy and I had a whole second half to worry about going out there and winning.

Of course, Dallas has this touchy subject because of a surge to the second-best record in the NFC entirely without Romo, sidelined by a preseason back injury, and minus 2014 All-Pro receiver Bryant for three games.
