Elton John announces retirement from touring

“I would love to have a little girl”.

“Three years’ time is a long time, I’ve been in the back of a van since I was 16 and I travel so much”.

The pair married in 2014 and have two sons, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John and Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. “In 2015, David and I sat down with a school schedule … And I’m definitely involved in streaming – I want my music to be heard”. The 70-year-old singer, pianist and composer said he wanted to spend time with his family.

In the US, Elton John was one the first artists ever with four simultaneous top ten records. Before officially retiring, he’ll embark on a three-year worldwide tour he’s dubbed the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour”, which he promised will be spectacular.

Speaking about what he will do after he retires from touring, he said: “I’m always going to be creative, I’m always going to be interested in creative stuff, and you know, I think after this tour is finished, I’ll take a few years off and see what’s going to happen”.

This announcement comes many months after his manager and husband, Furnish, mentioned to Music Week that “Elton must never stop performing…”

He also took time to dispel reports in the United Kingdom press that he was ending touring because he was sick saying “I picked up an infection in South America and it knocked me sideways for seven weeks but I still did 96 shows past year”. “We thought a lot about it”.

Rumours began to circulate on Wednesday morning that Elton John was retiring when The Mirror reported that the star was calling quits on touring after being “dogged by ill health”.

The Hall of Fame singer announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

John is also set to perform alongside Miley Cyrus at the Grammy Awards in NY on Sunday.

“It is so inspiring to work with people who are so talented”.

“They (the children) need me, they need David and I want to be there”. It is thrilling and it keeps me happy.

John said he was open to one-off concerts after his tour but that they would likely only be in Britain. Resplendent at Gotham Hall in a bespoke outfit, Elton discussed his passion for the Italian fashion house which past year unveiled its S/S 2018 collection – designed by Creative Director, Alessandro Michele and inspired by Elton’s inimitable style, referencing original items taken from his iconic style archives. “I’ve had an wonderful life and an awesome career-I feel very lucky”.
