England beat Bangladesh by 4 wickets

October 24 02:37 2016

England have won the third and final one-day worldwide against Bangladesh in Chittagong by four wickets to claim the three-match series 2-1.

The three players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions.

“Emotions were running high and obviously (they were) delighted to get the wicket”.

After being dismissed on review in the second one-day global in Dhaka, Buttler felt Bangladesh were too excessive in their celebrations and a heated confrontation ensued before umpires intervened to send the England captain on his way.

“We had a chance to win the series [in Dhaka] but unfortunately we didn’t take that and so we expect it to be a tight game in Chittagong”, said the bowler. “We bowled well up front but it was a good wicket and 240 was attainable”.

Mushfiqur was given a life on 44 after being dropped by Stokes and then went to 50 off the next ball with a towering six before some more lusty blows gave England a testing chase, but one that was not enough as Bangladesh’s pursuit of a seventh home series win in ODIs went up in smoke.

“We probably could have won that by seven or eight wickets – there were guys who got in”.

TV Channel: In Singapore, the live coverage of the 2nd ODI between Bangladesh and England will be on Star Cricket. Chris Woakes got England over the line with a big six.

Iqbal had already become the first player of his nation to pass 5,000 ODI runs and was just five runs short of another half century when Rashid had him caught by James Vince.

Off-spinner Nasir Hossain ended the partnership, but Billings and Duckett combined for a significant 64-run stand that mostly relied on singles and doubles to keep the fielders busy.

Mushfiqur, who finished with 67 off 62 balls, helped the Tigers flourish in the closing stage of their innings, which was uninterrupted as the anticipated rain failed to materialise.

While England head coach Trevor Bayliss said there would be no lingering animosity, Moeen, when asked if the events at the weekend had upped the ante for the third and final ODI, told Sky Sports News HQ: “It has a little bit”. In his next over, Rashid also accounted for the wicket of Mahmudullah (6) leaving Bangladesh at 122 for three. Kayes contributed with a quick-fire 46.

The only minor disappointment for England will be James Vince’s failure, yet again, to build on a start as he was trapped lbw by Nasir Hossain (1-53) for 32 in what is likely to be his final global outing for some time, having failed to pass 50 in all bar one of his 20 England knocks.

What this does is to make for a humdinger of a third ODI, one that could not only have its share of verbals but also some quality cricket on a different pitch.
