Vardy has denied being involved in moves to undermine Ranieri and he responded with his first league goals since December as Liverpool were beaten 3-1, with Danny Drinkwater scoring Leicester’s other goal and Philippe Coutinho scoring a late consolation for Liverpool.
“There’s no way you are going to win anything conceding that amount of goals, it’s just impossible to do that”. Vardy’s first goal was the club’s first in seven league games in 2017, with the club going 0-5-1 in the new year entering Monday’s game.
“Thank God we don’t have to play again tomorrow”.
“There’s no difference in tactics, there’s not a different plan for certain games”.
“I don’t think (the players) are not as good as I think they are, but they need my help to show it every week”. He’s got to make changes in the summer’.
“I’ve been a big part of that and that still doesn’t change it for me”. I love James Milner but he’s not a left-back. “Jamie Vardy exposed him”.
“I have no blame for him”.
Arsenal are up next for Klopp’s side, and it would not be entirely surprising to see Liverpool match the Gunners at Anfield on Saturday. The football they play is thrilling, the threat they pose is deadly but the same deficiencies are there that always have been.
“They leave themselves exposed to pace down the channels – Liverpool’s full-backs play like wingers”, he added.
Similarly, he questioned why that wasn’t the case with Ranieri, the man who led Leicester to the unthinkable last season by winning the Premier League title against all the odds.
“We’ve come under a lot of unfair stick with stuff in the press and online”, claimed Vardy. “This inconsistency makes absolutely no sense”, he said.
Even with Henderson in the team, Liverpool lack strong, galvanising personalities, and on-field leadership is essential tonight to ensure the players stay focused, and do not allow complacency to sabotage the performance. Just ask Claudio Ranieri how valuable that can be for a manager.
“I can honestly tell you we have tried to win games in the past”. It’s safe to say that I agree with Jame Carragher’s assessment of Lucas as a centre back.
After Claudio Ranieri’s controversial sacking last week, the spotlight was on the hosts but they started well as Vardy, Robert Huth and Shinji Okazaki all went close to breaking the deadlock early on.
