It was a moment the southeast had been waiting for, including several law enforcement officials across several state. “We know of no great amount of money, but there may have been some money there the victim didn’t know about”, the sheriff said.

Multiple agencies were involved in the arrest and as many as three dozen officers responded to the scene.

“I’m sure (the keys) were left” in the truck, Sills said.

The U.S. Marshal’s Office announced late Thursday that Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose were in custody.

Two of the sheriff’s office vehicles, with deputies inside, were fired upon during the pursuit, said Dan Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. But alive, which may have caught them by surprise, as earlier they told their hostages that “they’d be dead in 24 hours”.

The fugitives tied them up, and when the man tried to break free, they tied him up tighter, putting socks on his hands so he couldn’t loosen his bonds, Swing said.

The escapees tied up the couple with belt, ate some beef stew, grabbed some clothes, boots and jewelry. “They escaped from the prison in Georgia“.

At about 5:30 p.m. CT, Swing said Dubose and Rowe made a decision to leave and stole the couple’s Jeep Cherokee. The armed men told the couple they were the Georgia convicts and threatened to kill them if they resisted.

At this point, police were finally able to apprehend the fugitives. “We need help out here quick. hurry!”

The wife is heard sobbing in the background of the call as her husband speaks to the dispatcher. You’ve survived. You’ve survived.

Authorities were vigilant and did a good job of spreading the word about the escapees.

Miles said the inmates got in a wreck while being chased in the couple’s Jeep. The inmates eventually crashed in Christiana, Tennessee and ran into the woods. The trucker said that he saw two men who looked like they might be trying to steal vehicles.

Miller said the homeowner held them at gunpoint until deputies arrived. He didn’t draw his weapon, he said. “I am grateful to everybody and thankful to God himself for minimizing any further harm to anyone”. They’re stealing cars. We know they did a burglary.

Reports claimed that Rowe was originally from Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier said in a news release that he was relieved the two inmates were captured and no longer a threat to the public.

Authorities say the two inmates overpowered and disarmed the guards on a bus about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday as 33 inmates were being driven between prisons., Tenn. They then robbed an elderly couple and stole another vehicle.

“They are extremely traumatized”, he said.

They will also face charges in Tennessee for auto theft in Moore County, Tenn., and home invasion/armed robbery.

TBI Director Mark Gwyn is a part of a major press conference that was held around 9:30 Thursday night (6/15/2017) in front of Love’s Truck Stop on Epps Mill Road.
