Gas prices around MI have jumped this week. At the same time, supplies will tighten when refiners begin performing maintenance and switch to more expensive summer fuel blends.
GasBuddy’s gasoline forecast for 2016 predicted the range of prices would bottom out in February and then climb at least through May.
February 29- Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have risen 1.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.52/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 13,114 gas outlets in Texas.
Gasoline prices have started their annual spring climb, but they’re expected to stay below the level of recent years.
The current national average is higher at $1.79 per gallon. Colorado’s average price on Sunday was about 52 cents lower than the same day a year ago, according to GasBuddy’s research.
In Springfield, the average price for a gallon of gas also is $1.93, and it is trending up. But for the most part, it’s a case of oversupply – more crude is gushing into world markets than consumers and industry need.
Since 2000, March gas prices increased an average of 11 cents in Georgia, and 12 cents in Florida, Tennessee, and the U.S.

While prices are coming down everywhere else the price of gasoline here is climbing higher and higher.
A few stations even sold gas for under $1 last month, although they appeared to be marketing gimmicks, said AAA spokesman Michael Green.
“That flirtation with less-than-$1 gas is over”, said Kloza, the oil analyst.
