A Tuesday update on the developer’s blog confirmed the game’s first wave of 2016 paid content-and promises of so much that the price of a season pass will soon go up. And now it’s time to share with you some of what we’ve been creating – our first series of add-ons: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor.
Automatron is a smaller expansion that introduces a quest line where a mysterious man known as The Mechanic has unleashed numerous evil robots across the wasteland. According to Bethesda Softworks, the DLC will allow players to construct their own traps and cages to capture live creatures, including the infernal Deathclaws. Once they’re captured you can have them fight each other or other settlers. This add-on also includes the latest settlement options nixie tube lighting, taxidermy, letter kits and other new designs. In addition, looking at the official screenshot for the Wasteland Workshop add on, near the top of the player built structure appears to be a power core generator, potentially hinting that fans would finally be able to build one using the workshop crafting menu. Far Harbor is a “mysterious island” situated off the coast of Maine. There will be new faction quests, settlements, risky creatures, dungeons to explore, and high power armor and weapons.
Lastly in May, the title’s biggest planned expansion, Far Harbor will be released taking players on a story-driven adventure in a new location. For the rest of you however, if you want to purchase the season pass at its current price – £24.99 (that’s just about R570 although we can its R399 on Steam) – you have until 1st of March to do so.
Overall, the previous DLCs substantially increased the amount of content that was available in the Fallout games, generally providing at least three entirely new open world areas for each game.
These 3 add-ons combined total up a staggering $40.00 of content, but fear not, as Bethesda was kind enough to provide with a Season Pass that costs $29.99.
Bethesda will also be running a beta of the add-ons, and you can participate by signing up at their site (Bethesda account needed). Applicants will be picked out in the next couple of weeks and those who take part in it don’t have to buy the add-on.
For those who’d rather play the waiting game, you can also opt to try a hand at the beta raffle, in which case if you were selected as a beta participant, you’ll receive a copy of the DLC for free.
Even before Bethesda announced that it is giving a significant tweak to “Fallout 4’s” survival mode, fans have already been waiting for the announcement for the Mod Creation Kit. They might be nice to have, if you like that sort of thing – but they exist to keep us quiet while we wait for Far Harbor to be finished.
