Donald Trump on Friday tweeted about several protests that erupted across the United States following his victory on Election Day.
From the White House, Trump headed to Capitol Hill for meetings with House Speaker Paul Ryan, of Wisconsin, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, of Kentucky, to discuss the GOP legislative agenda. First lady Michelle Obama met with Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, while Vice President Joe Biden met with Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
For his part, Trump said it was a “great honour” to meet the president and said he looked forward to future meetings.
News organizations had for weeks tried to coordinate a pool of journalists who could begin to travel with Trump immediately after Election Day if he won election.
Trump was brutal toward Obama during his campaign speeches, repeatedly attacking the president’s policies from healthcare to an Iran nuclear deal.
Trump echoed his sentiments in an interview with Lesley Stahl on CBS’s 60 Minutes calling the provision to prevent denial of insurance from patients with pre-existing conditions one of Obamacare’s “strongest assets”. Among those things, Trump said, “We’re going to lower taxes, as you know”.
