Henderson, 82, died from heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Thursday night, a day after she was hospitalized, her publicist and manager said.
McCormick, best known for her role as Marcia Brady in the hit sitcom, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the time she spent with her beloved friend.
“You were fabulous”, Henderson complimented McCormick after blowing T.I. kisses.
Her career almost came to an end in 1965 when she suddenly lost her hearing while appearing in The King and I in Los Angeles, and was diagnosed with a condition linked to heredity.
Henderson even appeared at the reality series’ 2016 finale, just days before her death. She was so kind and would always take time.
Bothered by what she believed to be a shoddy makeup job, Henderson joked through the screen test about how bad she looked, and Schwartz, impressed with her comic timing, gave her the role.
“What is the one thing that, I guess, is the most different about you from Carol Brady?”.
And in an interview posted by the New York Daily News, Brady Bunch star Mike Lookinland, who played youngest brother Bobby on the show, said he was in shock over the sad news.
The sitcom star revealed that about eight years ago she ended up in the emergency room, and she had heart surgery to fix a valve in her heart. After the show ended, he went on to become a businessman and enjoyed a semi-resurgence in Hollywood throughout the 2000s by appearing on reality shows including “Celebrity Family Feud”. “She nurtured everybody. She was so caring”, Lauer said. Williams said she liked the theme song, but didn’t sing it.
“I was fortunate that I could have a fix”, she reflected. “And I think she was successful”.
She became synonymous with wholesomeness, and that led to endless job opportunities, whether she was embracing or poking fun at the squeaky-clean reputation of her most famous character.
“This year, I get to be out here and talk to everyone”. We shared so much that you can’t really describe to other people.
She also became a commercial spokeswoman and co-produced “Country Kitchen“, a Nashville Network series, The Los Angeles Times reported.
“Corrective surgery in both ears restored my hearing”, she said in 2007. And Florence did that. “She was very gracious, always”. More than a decade before playing Alice, Davis was the razor-tongued secretary on another stalwart TV sitcom, “The Bob Cummings Show”, which brought her two Emmys. Initially, she was meant to have been a comedic character, similar to Ball, but was rewritten to be the more familiar, maternal figure after it was felt that Ann B. Davis’ character Alice, the household maid, would serve as the comic relief. She will be loved forever. “We thank all of her fans for their many years of love and ask that we be allowed to grieve in private”. “I’ll miss u dearly #RIPFlorence“.
