The Florida Department of Health will allocate $7.4 million in additional state funding to Miami-Dade County to combat the spread of the Zika virus through mosquito control.

Scott originally declared a public health emergency in Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Lee and Santa Rosa Counties in February 2016, after the first travel-related Zika cases emerged.
As of Tuesday, there was one new non-travel related case of the virus linked to Miami-Dade County. Despite announcements from Florida Governor Rick Scott that the virus is under control, new cases continue to be reported.
Health Department officials stressed that the disease will remain a threat locally until the first frost tamps down mosquito activity. CDC is continuously monitoring Zika cases in Florida.
Both of those individuals had underlying health issues, according to Utah Department of Health epidemiologist Dallin Peterson.
